My name is Dennise and I would like to thank you for my order that arrived this morning. A big thank you to the thoughtful person who stuck the sticky tape to the felt underlay bag and made it so easy to pull off by tucking the ends of the sticky tape under. It’s a great idea. I hate trying to get sticky tape off plastic. It’s not good for the fingernails.
Thank you for the lavender. I have some growing at home. I quite often just make a trip to the lavender and rub it between my hands, just to smell the pleasant smell it has.
Owing to the face I’m at work at the moment, and of course I can’t try out my ironing board cover, I can’t wait until I get home tonight. The first thing I will be doing is trying out the cover and felt underlay.

Wonderful to hear from you Carol!!! Love the cover and will use it in my upcoming shop expansion this coming winter for us and summer for you. Pls do drop a note from time to time… hope to be helping one of your patriots that is in the States in Feb with his business. My family being from the UK and he being from the Commonwealth, it is a pleasure to be with him as he has mannerisms and expressions that I grew up with. Originally I saw an advertisement in the Australian Stitches Magazine. Then looking through the internet one day came across your website by chance – ordered an ironing board cover and underlay – then a friend saw my ironing cover and asked me to order one for her.
The same has happened again. This time I am going to have one for my normal ironing and another for my craft work. With a spare just in case.
Many thanks. It doesn’t move like the usual elastic edged ones I can normally buy in the department store and the underlay has been fantastic.
I also ordered a brass cat hair remover, which has been great, not only for the cat, but my daughter’s corgi also. It has certainly earned it’s pay in this household. I even do the carpet with it as my husband has put a long handle on it which can be unscrewed, making it much easier on my back.

I have just had a bit of a browse through your blog about various experiences with Fedex, David Jones, and the melt-down of your fax machine. I like that your blog is well written and humorous, but nevertheless pretty close to the bone. I have also had some frustrating experiences with courier companies, large stores who won’t do special orders, and who employ staff who have absolutely no idea about their merchandise (which means that even those who would like to offer a high standard of customer service are incapable of doing so, due to no fault of their own).
I will let you know what I think of the ironing board cover when it arrives and I have tried it out.

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to send Mr. Chin’s Laundry bag post haste to Jodie in time for the family’s overseas trip. I rang her yesterday to confirm that it had arrived and she said she was very pleased with it and it was now packed ready to go. I like the look of both bags, the plain one is a more modern look I think, and even though I like it, I still prefer my tapestry version. Many thanks…the ironing board cover arrived this afternoon, well ahead of schedule. My husband Rob, says he loves tension structures…he’s a materials handling engineer (builds really big conveyor systems) he was so enthusiastic about the cover I let him install it. I bought my Fitz Like A Glove ironing board cover from you when you had a stall in Greenwood Plaza, North Sydney. I’m not sure of the exact year, but I was working in North Sydney at the time, so it was between January 1995 and July 1998. After all that time, a few washes and much use, the fabric has finally worn through in one tiny spot. Amazing! A few years later, when a neighbour constantly complained about the poor quality and fit of her ironing board cover, I bought one for her (and a spare for me). I know she has gone on to buy more for members of her family. I have just placed an on-line order for a new Fitz Like A Glove (and new underlay) and I know it will be of the same excellent quality and fit as my original. You may wonder why I needed another one when I had a spare? My son “stole” it when he finally moved out of home permanently and “couldn’t cope” with the ironing board cover his girlfriend had. I purchased a Fitz like a glove cover about 5 years ago and just recently a small tear arrived that grows each time I use it so I am now buying another of your covers as there is no other product on the market I would consider. Hi Carol
I just wanted to let you know that I love my new ironing board cover. My board came originally with a flimsy cover and a foam underlay that had actually melted in parts to the board and had to be peeled off. The new felt underlay is thick and luxurious and fabulous to iron on and I love the crisp white cotton cover. It’s so much easier to iron without having to readjust the cover the whole time. And it looks great too. I am thrilled with it and will definitely recommend it to everyone.

Just a quick note to let you know the Fitz Like A Glove ironing board cover+felt+cloth arrived in Friday morning’s (18/4/2008) mail. I gave my Mum’s 40ish year old Frazer board a thorough spit&polish and put on the cover which fits snugly and perfectly. Apart from a few age spots on its legs, the board with its new cover looks as good as new, and should be good for at least another 40 years. My dear Mum (recently departed) would have been very pleased with the result.

Carol, like you said I would love this ironing board cover. I iron for a family of four, all adults. We have become spoiled having just about everything ironed. I’m retired and for some odd reason I love to iron. I have my Mothers old ironing board which the top is made out of wood, she received this as a wedding gift in 1938. The cover fits great and provides me with a ultra smooth surface. My iron glides across the cover, making it so much easier to iron. Thanks Carol for this great product. I think I bought it from you at a stand you had at one of the shopping centres here in Dubbo, but honestly can’t remember whether that’s right. The only problem is that I can’t even find it when I need it….it seems to ‘travel’ and not put back where it is supposed to be kept! I’m having a minor crisis here today – after threats of death to my 6 year old if he opened the nail polish bottle… well, now my beautiful ironing board cover (which I love) has a glittery burgundy nail polish stain right in the middle. This is a first!
First, take your cover off the board so the nail polish doesn’t penetrate into your underlay. And definitely don’t iron on the nail polish. You’ll just set it so it can’t come out. Second, we need to experiment here, so will get back to you tomorrow. Third, don’t kill your son. Childhood is about experimentation and pushing the boundaries. Think back to your childhood. I’m on his side. As a child, my parents wanted to kill me a gazillion times, but once I reached adulthood, they were grateful they let me live!!!!! You’ll hear from us tomorrow. Take care,

The only solvent that will remove nail polish from fabric is acetone. All my nail polish removers contain acetone and one also contains acetone and amyl acetate, another recommended solvent for removing nail polish. Which is why I’ve never had a problem removing nail polish from fabric.Your nail polish remover is perhaps the safer and softer approach, acetone free nail polish remover. You can purchase pure acetone in small quantities from hardware stores and some chemists. It’s handy to have around the house, in a safe place, away from 6 year olds, because it removes paint, varnish, lacquer, melted plastic and adhesives from items. Here’s the best way to approach this. Please keep in mind it takes some time to remove the polish because you can only do a little bit at a time, to prevent the polish from smearing and spreading. First: If the polish is quite hard, soften it first with a hair dryer. Second. Lay the spot face down, on a hard surface, over a layer of paper towels. Third: Working from the back, dab the acetone on IN SMALL DABS with cotton wool. Change the cotton wool frequently to keep it clean. You have to keep dabbing until the polish is completely removed. Fourth: Once the polish has been removed, clean the area with a small amount of methylated spirits. This works as an antidote to the acetone. Like removing paint from brushes and then washing them in soap and water. Fifth: Soak the cover overnight in a laundry detergent solution and wash
the next day. I’m not sure if the Buttercup colour will stay in with this approach, but as you’re dabbing in a small area, it will limit any discolouration from spreading. I use this technique when I spill nail polish on fabric and it has always worked for me. I just needed to check my bottle of nail polish remover to see the ingredients and also check my gargantuan library of stain remover books! The secret ingredient is the solvent acetone. Yes, the nail polish remover I grabbed in haste is one which is acetone free, and hasn’t been terribly successful. Hubby’s at the supermarket at the moment, and will hopefully get some with acetone. Extra frustrating as we’ve temporarily moved house for a few months and left lots of stuff behind at the “other” house, including (of course) the acetone nail polish remover – after all, why would I need it?
And yes, I won’t kill my son, tempted as I am. My mother often comments that she’s glad she didn’t kill my brother when he was young – he’s now very handy for reaching high things, lifting heavy things, and fixing computers.
I’ll let you know how I get on. It had gone through to the underlay, but only barely – it’s a slight discolouration on the underlay, probably not enough to worry about, though I might try a quick dab with the nail polish remover to see what happens. Cheers,

Just thought I’d update you on my progress – the acetone nail polish remover worked much better than the other stuff, and had the nail polish out in less than 10 minutes. I didn’t have any metho to hand (everything I need is always at the “other” house) so I had to skip that step – also didn’t use the hairdryer because I don’t even know where it is! I ended up soaking it for nearly 24 hours, as we lost power for a while so I couldn’t use my machine (it never rains, it pours!). But in the end, it’s come up quite well – there’s no nail polish colour left, just a sort of pale grayish mark where the polish was, which is probably only noticeable because I know it’s there. There doesn’t appear to be any loss of the buttercup colour, phew.
Thanks for your help – it seems the acetone was indeed the magic ingredient, despite what I’d read in my hasty search through internet stain removal web pages!
